ACoRNS Event-full details announced!

We are looking forward to seeing you at the ACoRNS Festival of Social Science event next week at Totton College.Here’s an overview of what you can expect to see on the day. This is an opportunity to hear what’s happening in ACoRNS as well as contribute your views!

The event is free to attend and free refreshments will be available.

14:00: Arrival and refreshments

14:15 – 14:30: Welcome to ACoRNS and the ESRC Festival of Social Science – Sarah Parsons & Hanna Kovshoff, University of Southampton

14:30 – 15:00: The participation of pupils with autism in decision-making: research and practice working in partnership – Mark Fry, New Forest School & Chantelle Zilli, University of Southampton

15:00 – 16:00: Feel free to mingle between different stands and activities, including:

–          Listening Conversations Corner, led by Tariq Sasso & Sherri Langrish, Blackfield Primary School

–          Removing barriers to success, creating meaningful and effective communication for ASC students within mainstream secondary and post 16 provision, and within an Additional Resource Base (ARB) for autism. Richard Cosford & colleagues & students from Bitterne Park School

–          Supporting good transitions for children with autism in the early years – Kathryn Ivil & Gareth Shaw, Aviary Nursery

–          Are we really listening? Josh, a student from Totton College

–          Our fabulous Listening Pod! All to be revealed on the day!

–          Activity-centred interviews for facilitating communication with students on the autism spectrum – Harriet Hummerstone, University of Southampton

–          ACoRNS research posters: find out what research is taking place across the ACoRNS partners this year
